The Kystbaneruten runs parralel to the Coast Line railway in the north on cycle paths in their own course and along smaller roads. By Klampenborg station the route continues along the Strandvejen on one-way cycle tracks through Hellerup and on to Svanemøllen station in Copenhagen.

The Kystbaneruten is a green route that runs in green surroundings along the coast line in the north and parralel to Øresund in the south. The route is a green and attractive route that passes both business- and recreational areas on the way. The route further shares alignment with the Danish national cycling route no. 9.
