Farumruten follows one-way cycle tracks from Farum in the north and along Frederiksborgvej and continues on paths in green surroundings along the Hillerød motorway. In Copenhagen the route continues on Nørrebrogade and onwards to Kongens Nytorv.

About the route

The Farumruten has high accessibility for commuters on bicycle because of the 13 tunnels the route runs through. Large parts of the route was already established in 1960’s and 70’s in relation to the build of the Hillerød Motorway. The route additionally passes through several green areas along Frederiksborgvej in Farum and Utterslov Mose. In Copenhagen, the route runs along Frederikssundvej and Nørrebrogade on wide cycle tracks and further on cycle tracks against the introduction of one-way traffic on Gothersgade till Kongens Nytorv.

The route connects the areas Farum, Værløse, Hareskoven, Bagsværd, Høje Gladsaxe, Mørkhøj, Brønshøj, Bellahøj, Nordvest, Nørrebro and Kongens Nytorv.

Planned extensions

Before 2030: The implementation of stage 3 of Farumruten.

Instead of sharing route course with the Frederikssundruten from Bellahøj to Kongens Nytorv, the Farumruten will connect to Rådhuspladsen from Bellahøj. The route will thus follow Borups Allé, Rantzausgade, Åboulevard and Gyldenløvsgade.
