The route follows a bidirectional shared-use path in its own course from Gammel Køge Landevej, where the Ishøjruten also runs, by Vestvolden parralel to the Amager motorway over Kalvebodbroerne and further north on the dam along Kalveboderne until the route meets Indre Ringrute near Vejlands Allé and Slusen.

About the route
The route runs through green areas alongisde water and has great recreational potential. There are no signalised intersections or direct meeting with motorized traffic on all of the route’s 9 kilometers, which makes the Avedørerute an attractive alternative to the inner part of Ishøjruten. The Avedørerute connects the Køge Bugt area with Ørestad, Amager and Sydhavnen, and connects the many workplaces in Avedøre Holme to the cycle superhighway network.
