The project group is typically positioned by traffic planners from the municipalities. Their main tasks are to qualify the professional contents from the office and to execute the local implementation of cycle superhighways within their administrative areas. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\nThe Collaboration does not have a politically assigned steering committee. However, there is tradition for hosting occasional Mayors’ meeting with all the collaborating municipalities to discuss future progress and foothold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steering committee meetings are held 3-4 times a year. At the meetings decicions are made about the focus and priorities of the collaboration. The steering committee holds decision power. <\/li>\n\n\n\n- Project group meetings <\/em>
Projecy group meetings are held 2-3 times a year. The objectives of the meetings are knowledge sharing and to discuss and qualify development projects. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\nIn addition to project group meetings, the members of the project group also participate in other project groups under special circumstances:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- Annual route cluster meetings for established cycle superhighways<\/em>
Project group members from municipalities that have implemented a cycle superhighway participates in an annual route cluster meeting, where maintenance, development, and possible upgrades on the route are dicussed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n- Coordinating route meetings<\/em>
Project group members also attend coordinating route meetings, which are aimed at setting the frame for development and implementation of a future cycle superhighway, or to screen a potential new route. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n- \n
- Working group meetings<\/em>
Other joint development projects such as updating the common concept or a new cycle superhighway account takes place in working groups, and is typically also staffed by project group members. The steering committee approves the initiation or implementation of a project with an associated working group.<\/li>\n\n\n\n- Online knowledge sharing sessions<\/em>
Knowledge sharing is an essential part of the Collaboration’s practice. The Cycle Superhighway office hosts multiple online knowledge sharing sessions, where internal and external participents are invited to share new and interesting perspectives, or to present experiences from projects they are working on. <\/li>\n\n\n\n- Study trips<\/em>

It must be decided politically in the individual municipality whether the vision to establish a cycle superhighway route that concern the affected municipality can be approved at corridor level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n- \n
- Municipality level: Construction budget for upcoming cycle superhighways.<\/strong>
The Municipal Council decides the level of funding they wish to allocate towards building cycle superhighways. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n- \n

Often, the cycle superhighways in the Captial Region are co-funded by the Danish State’s Bicycle Pool, which is a financial grant that is given to projects that supports cycle development. The Bicycle Pool is granted by the Transport spokespersons from the parliamentary parties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\nFunding the Collaboration<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div>\n\n\nFunding the Collaboration <\/h3>\n\n\n\n
In Denmark cycle infrastructure is mainly on municpal roads and the municipalties holds road authority. The Cycle Superhighway Collaboration focus on regional cycle development and infrastructure and that is why the Collaboration is a cross-municipal cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The municipalities fund the largest parts of the Collaboration’s shared expenses both in regards to buidling and maintaining the cycle superhighways. However, the Danish State plays a vital role by giving the municipalities the possibility of applying for co-funding through the national bicycle pools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From the beginning of the Collaboration in 2009 until 2025, the Capital Region has co-funded the coordination of the Collaboration, including the Office for Cycle Superhighway, together with the municipalities. As a consequence of a new national health reform from 2024, the Capital Region can no longer financially support the Collaboration. The Collaboration is working to find new permanent co-funding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
